Well, the game has currently received a number of large patches (it's currently v1.41) which have done a lot to help balance the entire game since the early release.

And, yeah, the one thing that really, really gets me in the game is the TERRIBLE unit pathfinding. It's a huge pain in the ass. Though the need to micro individual squad units isn't something that really bugs me. I wish there was a way to gauge the overall health of a squad easily, though, but on the whole the micro isn't a big deal for me.

When I played DoW online, I found the game to be full of imbalances.

Also, I found it to be a real pain to micro individual units in squads. And something else that is totally retarded about DoW is that there is individual pathfinding for every unit in a squad, which was the source of many problems in the early days. They might have patched this but I doubt it.

I actually spoke to a few people at Relic. They have no concept of game ballance. They're the kind of people that rather have "cool things" in the game without ever bothering to consider how it would effect the over all balance of the game.

The game is really fun on some levels, but as soon as you get a bit competitive, it becomes all about the Cheese Factor.
